Ray Don Capps, age 78, of Fort Wayne, passed away April 23, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Capps was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on June 7, 1946, to the late James and Marguerite (Wright) Capps.
Ray is an Army veteran who served his country honorably in Vietnam. Ray continued to serve his community for over 30 years at the FWAC Dept. of Health where he retired. Ray was a pillar of strength to so many in the Fort Wayne, Allen County, and surrounding areas. Ray was a cherished soul, with a deep caring golden heart, and will be remembered and missed by so very many, to include his close Euchre Club friends at Senior Town.
He is survived by his children Darren Capps, Lonnie Capps, Kim Lowe (Jim Arntz) and Chris Cione (Capps), as well as eleven grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Bill) Ludwig.
His grandchildren include Michelle Reina (Joe Reina), Crystal Bean (Thomas Bean), Sharlie Hovenden (Shawn Hovenden), Lindsey Gustin (David Gustin), Jessica Lowe (Tyler Neaville), Tiffany Lowe. Taylor Capps (Tiffanie), Whitney Capps, Braden Capps, Tristan Capps, and Tyler Capps.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marguerite Wright (Hafner) and James Capps, and his brother, Danny Capps.
Ray will be laid to rest at Marion National Cemetery, Marion, Indiana.

So sad to hear of Ray's passing. He truly was "One of a Kind". I always enjoyed talking with him when we worked together. Thoughts and prayers to his family.
