He was born on September 6, 1932, in Decatur, Texas, to Walter and Hazel Rawle Cobb. Ray dedicated his life to serving God and sharing His message across many churches throughout Texas.

Ray's educational journey included graduating from high school in Alvord, Texas, serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War, and earning a degree from the Baptist Bible Seminary in Springfield, Missouri. Throughout his years, Ray built a legacy characterized by hard work and an unwavering commitment to serving others. He instilled these values in his family and was an honorable man who dedicated himself to the well-being of those around him. Although he had no particular hobbies outside of his ministry, his family recalled that he took joy in some of his favorite foods, cornbread, milk, and liver. Despite a marked dislike for fishing, he would often accompany his wife on one of her favorite hobbies.

Ray leaves behind a profound legacy of dedication to family, ministry and service in his community. He instilled a strong work ethic in his family, demonstrating the power of hard work and faithfulness throughout his life. Ray had a deep devotion to his calling; preaching was not just a duty for him but a profound purpose in life.

Ray is preceded in death by his mother and father, his brothers, Travis and David Cobb, his first wife Linnie Cobb, his second wife Clara Finley, and his son Kenneth Cobb.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Cobb and wife Elaine; daughter-in-law, Nancy Cobb; grandchildren, Natalie Chance and husband Christopher; Brandon Cobb and wife Megan; Tina O'Brian and husband Clay; Brent Cobb and wife Lana; Cody Cobb and wife Jessica; and Jeffrey Cobb, as well as his eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
