Ray Lee Combe, 88, passed away peacefully on the beautiful spring morning of Sunday, April 14th, 2024.
Ray was born on October 30, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Lee and Mabel Combe. He was the second of six children including Allene, Beth, Jim, Paul, and Scott. Growing up in Ogden and Ogden Valley, he spent much of his time helping his father on the farm. He learned the value of hard work in his youth; a trait he exhibited throughout his life, even in his later years. He enjoyed working outside and took great care of his yard and home. Ray didn't believe in paying someone for something he could do himself and became a jack of all trades. He took pride in his work and was very much a perfectionist.
Ray attended school in Eden and Huntsville, going on to graduate from Weber High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army serving three years, one of those with the U.S. Eighth Army in the Far East. When his time in the army came to an end, he graduated from Weber State University with a B.S. Degree in Accounting. Ray loved to work with numbers and was a master budgeter.
Ray married Linda Crowton in September of 1960. Although their marriage ended in divorce, they both did their part to raise three outstanding men. His favorite pastime was spending time with his boys, camping, snowmobiling, and teaching them to fish. They spent countless hours in the outdoors and made many lasting memories.
Later in life, Ray had the privilege of becoming a grandpa. It was a role he relished and took very seriously. He enjoyed watching his grandkids' sporting events and was their most loyal fan. They could always count on looking up to see their Grandpa Combe in the stands with a proud look on his face.
Ray was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Mabel as well as his brother, Jim. He is survived by his sons Bruce, Steve (Rhonda), and Mark (Monica). He is also survived by nine grandchildren Tyler (Kenzi), Kyle (Nicole), Austin (Morgan), Colter, Karlee (Mike), Wyatt, McKell (Anthony), Ashlee (Kaleb), and Ashtin (Wes) as well as eight great-grandchildren.
Ray wished to express a special thank you to the Curtis and Charlene Heaton family. Thank you for your friendship and assistance over the years making his life more enjoyable and easing his burdens.
Per Ray's request, there will be a private, family service. The family wishes to extend a thank you for all the kind words and concern shown at this time.
Interment will be in Liberty Cemetery, 3930 N. 3500 E., Eden, Utah.
