Naugle Funeral Home & Cremation Services - JacksonvilleRay Vidal McKinsey, a beloved son, brother, partner, and father, was born on March 7,1979, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He passed away on August 28, 2025, after a courageous four-month battle with cancer. Discovering his illness only in April of this year, Ray faced his diagnosis with bravery and resilience, although his fight was ultimately brief. His family is left heartbroken with his sudden departure.
Ray's journey began in Alamogordo, but it was Jacksonville, Florida, where he truly flourished. Moving there in 1986 at the age of seven, Ray spent the next forty years building a life rich in love and laughter. His passions for music, football, video games, comic books, and especially food, shaped him into the person his friends and family adored. These interests led him to a fulfilling career in the food and beverage industry, where he excelled as a manager known for his kindness and leadership. Ray concluded his professional journey as the General Manager of River and Post, a premier dining establishment in North East Florida, where he found both success and a sense of home.
Ray is survived by Meredith White, the love of his life, along with her family, including her mother, Vicky Bartell, and siblings, Josh Stienmetz and Cressida McKinney. His loving parents, Gary and JoAnne McKinsey, cherished him as their firstborn. Ray is also remembered by his brother, David Nicholas McKinsey, his sisters, Melani Kennedy and Lilah McKinsey, and most poignantly, his daughter, Rayanna Autumn McKinsey, affectionately known as "Shorty" or "Child." Rayanna was by his side, holding his hand as he departed this world.
Family and friends will remember Ray for his warmth, humor, and the joy he found in everyday moments. Whether indulging in the vibrant food scene of Riverside with Meredith or enjoying a quiet evening at home with a glass of whisky and a comic book, Ray lived life with passion and grace. His strength and determination shone throughout his battle with cancer, embodying the fighting spirit of his favorite superhero, Captain America. In accordance with Ray's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Instead, a Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, September 22, 2025, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at River & Post, 1000 Riverside Avenue, Jacksonville, FL 32204. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor Ray's remarkable life.
