Ray Widegren, age 69, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025. Born in Grand Junction, Colorado, Ray made his home in Aurora, Colorado, where he built a life centered on family and friendship.

A talented and dedicated computer programmer, Ray brought patience, creativity, and problem-solving to everything he touched. Those same qualities carried into his personal life. He loved card games, where his sharp mind and good humor made every game more fun, and he found great happiness traveling with friends and family, collecting memories in the places he visited and the people he visited them with. Ray had a special affection for dogs, and he spent many fulfilling hours volunteering at the local dog shelter, offering care, comfort, and kindness to animals in need. His gentle way with dogs reflected the compassion he extended to everyone around him.

Ray is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Beth Widegren, and his daughters, Amanda Herbst (Brenden Herbst) and Amy Peterson (Matt Peterson). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Mason, Logan, and Jackson, who brought him immense joy, and he was excited to be welcoming a new grandchild next year. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Knight, whom he dearly cherished. Ray was pre-deceased by his parents, Harold and Marjorie Widegren, his brother Rex Widegren (Rose), his sister Peggy McPherson, and brother-in-law Jess Knight.

Ray will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his quiet wit, and the steady, reassuring presence he offered to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the family he adored and the many lives he brightened along the way.

A funeral Mass will be held on December 6th, 2025, at 12pm at Ave Maria Catholic Parish in Parker, CO. A reception will follow.
