Raymond C. Ackerman, 92 of Mount Pleasant ( Bullskin Twp.) died Sunday September 10, 2023 in the Hempfield Manor. He was born March 30, 1931 in Lycippus a son of the late Frank and Dorothy Reynolds Ackerman. Mr. Ackerman was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. He was a member of the Army National Guard and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. He was a self employed Brick, Block and Stone Mason. Early in his life he worked as a Milk Inspector for area dairies. He was also a former Boy Scout leader. He was an active member of the Paradise Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher\, Lay Leader and he served on the Building Committee. He was also a member of the United Methodist Men. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara McConnell Ackerman; son, Kevin Ackerman and his wife Marsha of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Kim DeMarchi and her husband John of Stahlstown; his grandchildren, Chad Ackerman, Dustin Ackerman and his wife Caitlyn, Brittany Bergquist and her husband John and John T. DeMarchi and girlfriend Lindsay and two brothers, Richard Ackerman and his wife Gloria of Latrobe and William Ackerman and his wife Julia of Latrobe. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Leora Smith and Doris Ghrist and one brother, Robert Ackerman. Family and friends will be received from 2-8 P.M. Sunday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 406 E. Washington St., Mount Pleasant. Additional viewing will take place in the Paradise Church on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M, the hour of services in the church with Rev. Mark Heckman officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Suncrest Hospice and the nurses at Hempfield Manor for their care and concern of Mr. Ackerman during his time there.
