Died: November 26, 2021 in Peru, IL
Raymond John Barsztaitis, 92, of Peru, passed away Friday morning, November 26, 2021 at St. Margaret's Health, Peru.
A prayer service will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with Rev. Gary Blake, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Peru City Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Raymond was born October 25, 1929 in LaSalle to Frank and Sophie (Jozwiak) Barsztaitis. He married Joette J. Volkey in 1978 in Portage, WI. He served in the U.S. Army. Raymond worked as a truck driver for Nabisco in LaSalle and retired from Todd Uniform Co. after 25 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Peru and enjoyed fishing, spending time at his cottage in Birchwood, WI, and overall just loved socializing, especially with friends at South Shore Boat Club in Peru.
Survivors include his wife, Joette; four children, Karen (Alex) Dutkiewicz, Raymond (Sue Trost) Barsztaitis, Katherine Ketchum, and Randall Barsztaitis; three step-children, Toni Schenk, Roger Setzer, and Julie Nelson; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodney J. Barsztaitis; three brothers; and five sisters.
