Raymond Roy Bird, beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, at the age of 80. He was born on May 12, 1945, in Springville, Utah, to Loyd and Marjorie Bird and spent his life dedicated to his family.
Ray was a proud graduate of Snow College and then Brigham Young University. He was a BYU and Snow College sports fan. Ray played football while attending Snow College. He was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family, an avid fisherman, loved his chickens, his dog Sadie and playing games.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and completed two service missions, where he and his wife dedicated themselves to genealogy work. They loved doing genealogy together and it became a hobby of theirs.
Ray will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family and sense of adventure. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and devotion that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. May he find peace finally reunited with his sweet wife, Mary.
Ray is survived by Zachary Bird, Melissa (Quinn) Cook, Emily (Bryce Schulzke) Bird, 10 grandkids and 4 great grandkids. Ray is preceded in death by his wife Mary, his parents Loyd and Marjorie Bird, his siblings Luree, Richard, Bill, and Geniel; and grandson, Logan Cook.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Ray's life at a public viewing on September 8, at 6:00-8:00 PM, at Anderson and Sons Mortuary in American Fork, 49 East 100 North. A second public viewing will be held at the American Fork 9th Ward Chapel, 673 East 300 North on September 9, from 9:45-10:45 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Internment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 East 400 South, Springville, UT 84663.
