Raymond H. Burke

Raymond H. Burke, 89, of Rutland, died on May 12, 2024.
Born January 7, 1935 in Rutland, VT. Son of James H and Lovica (Rivers) Burke. Raised and schooled in Clarendon, VT. Spent 8 years of childhood at St. Joseph's Orphanage in Burlington, VT.
He lived in Bethel, VT for many years working as a handyman and raising his family. He moved to Rutland in the early 1980's where he spent most of his years working as a janitor at such places as Green Mtn Plaza and Diamond Run Mall. He also worked at the Rutland County Humane Society, and for Casella's. He really enjoyed his family, family gatherings, country music, woodcrafts and horseshoes.
He is survived by 5 children: Katherine M. Drake of Quartzsite, AZ, Cindy J. Hill of Pembroke NH, Tammy L. Cofrancesco of Lyndon, VT, Lauri A. Girard of Somerset, PA, and Wayne H. Burke of Concord, NH. He is survived by 2 brothers: Thomas Burke of Milton, VT, and Lois Burke of Rutland, VT. 2 sisters: Jean Hier of Fair Haven, VT, and Judith Daly of Fair Haven, VT. 2 half-brothers: Wayne Burke of Barre, VT and Bart Lethbridge of Rutland, VT as well as a half-sister Elizabeth Conway of AR. 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by 6 brothers: William Burke of Wells, Vt, James Burke of Pittsford, VT, Bobby Burke of Rutland, VT, Robert Burke of Washington, VT, Richard J. Burke of South Royalton, VT, and Frank Burke of Rutland, VT. 6 sisters: Beatrice Shaw of N. Clarendon, VT, Rita Hier of Rutland, VT, Rosemary Haskins of Rutland, VT, Shirley Withington of Rutand, VT, Nancy Hodgdon of Rutland, VT, and Margaret Grenier of Mt. Holly, VT. 1 daughter: Dorothy M. Burke and 1 granddaughter: Kayla A. Girard.
Calling hours will be at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 10:00-11:00am. A short funeral service will follow visiting hours. Graveside service to immediately follow at the East Clarendon Cemetery.
