Raymond Edward Butler

Raymond Edward Butler, 78, of Comer died on January 19, 2024. The son of Helen Butler Hendrix and stepson of Henry Hendrix, Raymond was born in Athens and traveled from state to state with his stepfather's Navy career. Raymond graduated from Glynn Academy in Brunswick. He worked for Reliance Electric for forty-two years in the Quality Control Department. Raymond was very well liked and respected by his coworkers. Raymond moved to Comer in 1996 and was very interested in the history of Comer. He later became the President of the Historical Society for many years.
Raymond collected antique radios, eventually amassing one hundred and fifty radios, and enjoyed tinkering with them and traveling to antique stores and thrift stores on the hunt with his partner, Pamela. They also enjoyed attending blue grass festivals, and Raymond attempted to learn how to play the mandolin. He was an incredibly kind man with a love for animals.
Raymond is survived by his partner of twenty-eight years, Pamela Sheppard of Comer; his son, Jason Butler of Norcross; his stepdaughter Colleen Dunahoo of Birmingham, Alabama; and granddaughter Lindsay Dunahoo of Comer.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his caregiver Diane Leard of Royston for her loving care during his illness.
The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff of Bristol Hospice for their kindness and care. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.
