Raymond D. Friis Jr., age 65, of Dubuque, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital. To celebrate Ray's life private services were held. Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main Street is assisting Ray's family.
Ray was born on July 15, 1960, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Raymond D. and Edith (Ranslow) Friis Sr.
Ray graduated from high school and then attended college. Ray worked for Collis LLC in Clinton, Iowa, as a maintenance mechanic for over 10 years. It was while working there that Ray met the love of his life, Tammy (Bell) Widner. They married on August 25, 2005, in Clinton. In his free time Ray liked tinkering around, fixing things and socializing with his friends and neighbors. He was an avid paranormal investigator for several years. Ray had his own team of investigators to search out the truth in his investigations. He also loved trains and was an avid golfer. Ray truly enjoyed being in the great outdoors and took pride in caring for his landscaping. He loved his family and he will be greatly missed.

4 children,
Sarah (Beau) Brewer, Texas,
Bradley Friis, Clinton, IA,
Chelsey Friis, Clinton, IA
and Daniel Friis, Dubuque, IA;
a step-son,
John Widner, Clinton, IA;
4 grandchildren;
several step-sisters;
and his former wife,
Karen Friis, Clinton, IA.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; and a daughter, Samantha Friis.
Ray's family would like to thank the nurses and staff in the ICU and on 5th floor at UnityPoint Health Finley Hospital for their gentle kindness and compassionate care of Ray and his family. Also a special thanks to all of his friends and family who came to visit him and say goodbye to him before his passing.
