James Vincent Kearney, 77, of Dubuque, IA, passed away on November 3, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Private family services were held at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road. Internment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
James was born on June 30, 1948, in Dubuque, the son of Phil and Dorthy (Shephard) Kearney. He graduated from Dubuque Senior High School in 1966. James married Patricia DeMaio on October 22, 1966, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church. He worked as Teleprompter, and for J&J Pool Service, J&J Tree Service and Tri State Pool.
Along with being a member of Lacoma Golf Club, James enjoyed playing golf on Sundays with friends. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. He also enjoyed meeting friends after work at the Walnut. He loved to travel with his close friends and always enjoyed working outside in his yard.
James is survived by his wife Patricia; his children, Jay Kearney and Jodi (Ron) Burchette; his grandchildren, Caitlin (Austin) Troy, Bailey Burchette and Tanner Burchette; his great grandchildren, Lane Troy, Paisley Troy and Scarlett Troy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Dorthy Kearney and his brother, Richard Kearney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
