Juan M. Lampe, 90, of Dubuque, Iowa, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, at Bethany Home.
Friends and family may visit on Monday, November 10th, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Leonard Funeral Home & Crematory, 2595 Rockdale Road, where a wake service will be held at 3:45 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11th at St. Columbkille Catholic Church with Rev. G. Robert Gross officiating. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Juan was born on June 6, 1935, in Farley, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph and Mary Agnes (McDermott) Speltz. She graduated from St. Columbkille High School in 1953. Juan worked for many years in the billing department at Peoples Natural Gas and held several other jobs before joining the Dubuque Packing Company. She later retired from St. Dominic Villa.
Juan enjoyed testing her luck at the casino, playing cards, shopping, dancing, and exercising. She generously gave her time as a volunteer at the National Mississippi River Museum and Finley Hospital and was a proud member of the Moose Lodge. She had a deep and abiding faith and was active in the Power of Prayer group.
Juan is survived by her children Kimberly DeSanti of Dubuque, Todd (Lisa) Lampe of Davenport, Andrea (Rick) Jochum of Dubuque, and Nicole (Ed) Freed of Dubuque; fifteen grandchildren Ryan (Nicole) DeSanti, Kayla (Josh) Beecher, Kelsey (Kyle) Passick, Riley (Monica) DeSanti, Russell DeSanti, Julia Lampe, Ellie Lampe, Kara Lampe, Anna (Jacob) Shultz, Adeline (Jake Mawe) Jochum, Samuel Jochum, Lily Jochum, Benjamin Freed, Maria Freed, and Caroline Freed; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy Frommelt and Bonnie Stender; one brother-in-law, Jerry Lochner; one sister-in-law, Nancy Speltz; and many nieces & nephews & other extended family.
She was preceded by her parents Ralph and Mary Agnes; her husband, Earl; her sister, Coletta (Cletus) Tigges & Sharon Lochner; two brothers Larry Speltz & Jim Speltz; brothers-in-law John Frommelt and Thomas Stender; a great granddaughter, Penelope; and her nephew TJ Stender.
The family extends their sincere appreciation to the physicians, nurses, and staff at UnityPoint Health, Finley Hospital, as well as Hospice of Dubuque, for the wonderful care provided to Juan. A special thank you to the staff of Bethany Home for the exceptional care, compassion, and love shown to Juan over the past two years.
In lieu of flowers a Juan Lampe memorial fund will be established.
