Raymond Earl Grady, age 81, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home on October 26, 2025.
Born on December 9, 1943 in De Kalb, Mississippi, Raymond grew up in Chicago, Illinois, a city he always carried with pride in his heart. He lived a life defined by service, honor, strength, and deep devotion to his family.
A proud Retired U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (SFC), Raymond served with honor as both a Vietnam War veteran and a Cold War veteran. Throughout his distinguished military career, he was stationed in Vietnam, Germany (multiple tours), Okinawa, and Thailand, among other duty stations. He carried the values of service, loyalty, and discipline with him throughout his life - leading his family with quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and a heart full of love.
Raymond was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a steady, guiding presence to all who knew him. His humility, his discipline, and his deep care for others were evident in everything he did. He leaves behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and enduring love.
He is survived by his wife, Nida Grady, and his children Marco (Donna) Grady, Jennefer Grady, and John Grady.
He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren:
Gabrielle Grady, Patrick Grady, Xavier, Victoria, Maddysen Grady-Castillo, Hawley Grady, William Grady, Camden Grady, Lahni Grady, Natasja Grady, Karmina Grady, Tristan Grady, Phoebe Grady, Chloe Grady, and Grace Grady,
and his cherished great-grandchildren Dajuan, Caleb, James, and Arthur.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Carmencita Grady, and his son, Patrick Grady.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at:
Hansen Mortuary Chapel
8314 N. 7th St.
Phoenix, Arizona 85020
Raymond will be cremated, and burial with full military honors will take place at a later date once arrangements are finalized.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a veterans' organization of your choice, honoring his life of service and devotion to others.
