It is with unending love and beautiful memories that we say goodbye to our husband, father, grandfather and friend, Raymond Lee Hardy, 77, of Baytown, who was born February 13, 1932 in Baytown and passed away peacefully in a local hospital Wednesday, February 10, 2010 with family by his side. Raymond's spirit now shares a joyful reunion with his Heavenly Father and many loved ones who preceded him in death. He was a 1950 graduate of Cedar Bayou High School and was a U. S. Navy Korean War veteran who served on the U. S. Ammen. He started as a patrol officer with the Baytown Police Department in 1957 and retired with 33 years of service with the rank of Sergeant after serving as a training officer for many of those years. During his many years as a police officer, he helped many people and this caring attitude continued even beyond his retirement. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling with his wife after his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Ruby Hardy; son, Roger Hardy; and brother, Edward R. Hardy and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia Hardy and son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Lisa Hardy, all of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Marcee and Mike Benoit of Katy; grandchildren, Joshua Hardy and wife Kacey, Jarret Hardy, Morgan Benoit, Sidney Benoit, Dustin Johnson and Casey Lespade; and great grandchildren, Aubrey Hardy and Emery Lespade. His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home on what would have been his 78th birthday, Saturday, February 13, 2010 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Clements officiating. At his request, his body will be cremated afterwards. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 AC Skinner Pkwy, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256, www.woundedwarriorproject.com Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX, 77521 (281) 422-8111.
