Raymond Dean Harris, known affectionately as Raymond, was born on March 22, 1937, in Wagoner, Oklahoma. He embarked on his final journey on October 17, 2025, from his home in Georgetown, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy marked by loyalty, reliability, and generosity. An accomplished Marine and a successful entrepreneur, Raymond was a man of many talents. His life was a testament to the words of Albert Einstein, "The only source of knowledge is experience."
Raymond was a man of diverse interests and talents. As a Marine, he served his country with dedication and honor. On retiring from the military, he demonstrated his entrepreneurial spirit by establishing a Heating and Air Company, which he managed with distinction until his retirement. Raymond's talents were not limited to his professional life; he was also a gifted musician. For 15 years, he performed with the Enid Symphony Orchestra and the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Symphony, captivating audiences with his musical prowess.
Raymond was not all work and no play; he had a deep love for travel. Over a period of 23 years, he journeyed across all 50 states in his motor home, creating a tapestry of experiences that were as diverse as they were enlightening. Despite his achievements and adventures, Raymond was a man who appreciated the simpler things in life. His generosity and kindness were the hallmarks of his character, and his loyalty and reliability endeared him to all who knew him.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne, his children Kelley (Kristin) Harris of Edmund, Oklahoma, Deborah Scherwin of Hales Corner, Wisconsin, Penny (John) Smith, of Huntsville, Alabama, his stepchildren Misty (William)Thomas, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Keith (Alicia) Ervin,of Georgetown, Indiana, Mel (Cindy) Ervin, of Beaumont, Texas, Rob (Lissa)Ervin, of Bowie Texas, Todd (Dee) Ervin of Atlanta, Georgia, his brother James "Jim" Harris,of Schertz, Texas, and sister Jean Brand, of Gunter, Texas.
