Raymond “Ray” V. Heckman, 68, of New Vernon Twp., Sandy Lake, passed away on January 8, 2025 at his residence. Raymond was of Christian faith.
Ray was born on November 20, 1956 to the late Vance N. and Ruby L. (Heffern) Heckman in Grove City, PA.
He was a graduate of Lakeview High School. After his graduation he went on to join the United States Navy where he earned a National Defense Service Medal. After serving his country he went on to work for Mercer Forge where he was a Shear Operator for 22 years. He retired from Mercer Forge in 2010. Ray was an outdoorsman at heart. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Ray would spend time volunteering with his wife at church dinners and events. Most of all, Ray loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
On September 19, 1981 he married his beloved wife, the former Bonnie Pektas, she survives.
In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his children: Nicole (Jason Mazon) Pektas, of Sandy Lake, Corey (Brandy) Pektas, of Sanderville, GA and Kristen Heckman, of Sandy Lake; his grandchildren: Jaden, Samantha, Tonya, Silas Mazon; Corey II (CJ), Adlar, Paedyn, Ryelan Pektas; his siblings, Sandy (Ron) Westbrook, and Sam (Judy) Heckman; his sister-in-law, Terri Heckman; his father-in-law, Thomas Pektas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Cheryl Croy; and a brother Wayne Heckman.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro. There will be no services at this time.
Burial will be private at Oak Hill Cemetery.
