Raymond Steve Helms, Sr., known affectionately as Ray, was born on September 18, 1951, in Donalsonville, Georgia. He passed away on June 23, 2025.
Ray devoted much of his professional life to the trucking industry, thriving as a truck driver. His passion for the open road was matched only by his love for his family and the simple joys of life, particularly fishing. He was a man who found serenity in nature and welcomed every opportunity to cast a line into the water.
For many years, Ray was a devoted member of St. Joe Hill and St. John Paul II Catholic Church. His faith was an integral part of his life and he built lasting relationships within his church community.
Ray is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Linda Rauck Helms; his children: Rick (Sheryl) Helms, Charlie (Rhonda) Helms, Kenneth Helms, Steve (Jaime) Helms, and Jennifer (Pierce) Mumaw. Ray's legacy continues through his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life: Damien, Jimmy, Kylie, Bradley, Jacob, Hayden, Caleb, Hope, Levi, and Noah. He is also survived by his brother, Troy (Marie) Helms; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Helms and Olene Earnst Helms; his sister, Marguerite Clance; his brother and sister-in-law, Keith & Linda Helms; and his granddaughter, Emily Helms.
Ray will be remembered not only for his contributions to the trucking industry but, more importantly, for the love he shared with his family and friends.
