Tough to beat Mike Woods' wonderful entry, but when I started singing barbershop at the ripe old age of 19, my chorus mentor was Ben Williams (not bad, eh?) and it wasn't long until I heard "The 3 Renegades & Ray" for the first of many times over the years to come. Every interaction with Ray left you with a laugh cramp in your gut and an ear-to-ear grin that made you feel as alive as he was. He was a wonderful man and role model for the attitude with which you should live your own life - zesty! My heart goes out to all his family.

I smile when I think of Ray Henders. Whether thinking of his vast library of Irish jokes or singing a tag with his Son's quartet, Rush Street, at 2am he lived life with everything he had. I feel fortunate that I got to know him and be part of his world. My prayers go out to the entire Henders Family and I look forward to singing with Ray when we meet again.
