Raymond L Hetz, 98, of Cleveland, OH, passed away on Monday June 9, 2025. Raymond was born on September 12, 1926 in Meyersdale, PA the son of Melvin and Alice (Winebrenner) Hetz. Raymond served in WWII in the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) and was honorably discharged.
Raymond married the love of his life, Ruth Hetz, on December 23, 1950. Raymond worked as a welder/pipe fitter for Republic (LTV) Steel for many years. Raymond loved tinkering in his garage and always wanted to help others. Over the years, he would pick up things like discarded lawn mowers and repair them and give them away to family and friends.
When he wasn't tinkering in his garage, Raymond loved having a garden and growing all sorts of vegetables. Since Ruth and Raymond did not have children, they showered their love on the many "fur-babies" they had over the years, first dogs and then cats.
Raymond was the most calm, patient, and friendliest person and he touched the lives in some way of every single person he encountered. Everyone always said how sweet he was and how he was always thoughtful and giving.
Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth Hetz (Shockey) and siblings; Harrison Hetz, Jane Hetz (Hotchkiss), Alice Hetz, Margaret Hetz (Sagar), Melvin Jr. Hetz, Charlie Hetz, Kenneth W. Hetz, Mary Lou Hetz (Murray), Marvin Hetz, and Marshall Hetz. Raymond is survived by his sister Dorothy Hetz (Krause), and many nieces, nephews, and other family.
The family will be having private memorial services. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in North Olmsted, Ohio.
