Raymond R. Bob Higgins Jr., age 82 of Freeville, NY passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Cayuga Medical Center.
Born May 3, 1940 in Virgil, NY he was the son of the late Raymond and Frances Beattie Higgins. After graduating high school, Bob enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and was honorably discharged in 1962. Bob was employed with the US Postal Service, as a rural carrier, for 42 years. He also worked at Autoworks in Varna for 12 years and was a projectionist at the Homer Drive In for 25 years. Bob was a volunteer with the Virgil Fire Dept. serving as an EMT and Assistant Chief. He loved gardening, his fish pond, going on cruises and reading books. He loved animals especially Koda, his many Sandys and Evil.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Betty Edwards Peak Higgins; his children, Thomas Peak of NC, David Peak (Kim Bergen), Lori Peak of Freeville, Shelly MacBain (Gerry Martin) and Kelly Garrett (Jeff); eight grandchildren, one great granddaughter; his sister, Patricia Casterline; nieces and nephews. In addition, he was predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, Harold and Donald McCall.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden. Burial with military honors will follow at Virgil Rural Cemetery, Virgil, NY. Friends may call from 12-1pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virgil Fire Dept.
