Steven L. Houghtling (Houghty), age 78, died unexpectedly at home on February 18, 2026 in Ithaca, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Peggy (Penny) Houghtling; his son, Benjamin Houghtling; brother-in-law Chuck Eddy.
He is survived by his son, Jacob Houghtling; daughter Michelle Hemingway; grandson Chaz (Christina) Rockwell; Anna (Christopher) Mallory; and his great-grandson Cooper Rockwell; his former wife Lois Smith Pierson; his siblings- Rick and Jim Houghtling and Penny (Houghtling) Eddy and his five nephews Craig, Dana, Tim, Joey and Rich.
He was born in the small town of Midale, Saskatchewan, Canada where he gained his love of hockey and hunting. He enjoyed the outdoors, trap shooting and his many friends from the area gun clubs. He worked 35+ years in the area as a drywall finisher. In retirement he enjoyed working part-time as a driver for McGuire Dealerships.
Abiding by his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no services.
