Raymond Jeffrey ‘Jeff’ Horne, 61, of Abbeville, husband of Joy Lynn Horne, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Columbia, SC to the late Samuel Scurry Horne and Emily Williams Horne.
Jeff graduated from Abbeville High School, Class of 1981. He began his career with Prysmian Cable before becoming a contractor with WCTEL for many years. Most recently, he was employed by Stoll Industries. Jeff’s heart found its greatest joy in spending quality time with family and friends. He created lasting memories filled with love, laughter and support. His spirit reflected his love for those around him and the importance he placed on relationships. Whether it was gathering for simple afternoons or celebrating milestones, Jeff embraced every opportunity to be present for his loved ones. He was a member of Main Street Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Adam ‘Knocker’ Horne.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Joy, of the home; his children, Jacob Horne (Taylor), Zach Horne (Hunter Malone), all of Greenwood and Samantha Smith (Drew Cook) of Gray Court; three step-sons, Joshua Able (Suzannah) of Columbia, Wesley Able (Shelby) and Josiah Noriega all of Abbeville; three brothers, Gary A. Horne (Clare), Sammy Horne and Greg Horne (Anne) all of Abbeville; eight grandchildren, Emery, Gray, Amelia, Finley, Hunter, Lenny, Murphee and Dial; sister-in-law, Tracy Horne of Abbeville; and numerous extended family and friends.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, June 28, 2025, in the chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Mr. Zeb Young and Mr. Matt Gambrell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Memorial contributions, in memory of Jeff, may be sent to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. If you would like to send flowers, please consider sending something that can be planted in the yard in Jeff’s memory.
