Raymond Donald Johnson, 86, passed away on December 9, 2024. He was a resident of Wappingers Falls for 60 years and was formerly from Beacon.
Raymond was born in Beacon on February 17, 1938, to Raymond and Matilda (Volk) Johnson. On June 6, 1964, he married Colette Horner in Monroe, who survives him.
Raymond worked at Texaco Research Center in Glenham and at IBM in East Fishkill before retiring. He was an active member of the W.H. Mase Hook and Ladder Company 1, where he served as past president, and was a life member of the Beacon Elks Lodge #1493. He was also a parishioner of St. Joachim - St. John the Evangelist Church. Raymond served in the U.S. Army Reserve, was called to active duty from 1961 to 1962, and completed his service in the Army Reserve in 1965.

He also leaves behind his grandsons: Justin Chaisetseree (Michelle Furbeck), Nicholas Chaisetseree (Molly Williams), Dylan Chaisetseree, Raymond A. Johnson, and Logan Johnson. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth D. Gallagher, in 2020.
He was the kindest man you would ever meet-a true gentle giant.
Ray loved spending his summers "up to the lake" in Spruce Lake, NY. On Sundays, you could always find him in front of the TV watching his beloved NY Giants.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon.
