Raymond Lawler, age 82, of
Marion, Illinois, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, at 11:11 AM at Carbondale Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Raymond was a dedicated and successful lawyer at Lawler & Lawler Law Firm, where he served his community with unwavering commitment for over 50 years. He was not only known for his professional achievements but also for the deep love and devotion he showed to his family. A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Raymond's legacy is one of integrity, generosity, and hard work. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Ellen Marie (Duckhorn) Lawler.
Raymond's children, Dr. Colleen Lawler-Bjornberg MD (Andrew George Bjornberg IV), Bridget Lawler, JD (Dan Reid, Jr. ) Dr. Michael Lawler, MD (Sheri Lawler, JD) Dr. Elizabeth Lawler, MD (Michael Sinnen, JD), and Dr. James Lawler, MD (Alison Lawler) along with his 12 cherished grandchildren, Emily, Andrew, and Fredrick Bjornberg; Brianna and Isabella Reid; Michael, Thomas, and Lucas Lawler; Mike and Brendan Sinnen; Madelyn and James Thomas Lawler III, will deeply mourn his loss. His wisdom, guidance, and love have shaped their lives in immeasurable ways, and his memory will continue to inspire them all.
Raymond is also survived by his siblings: Monseigneur Joseph Lawler, Mary Ellen Walsh, and Lucy Zilch, as well as a host of extended family who will remember his kindness and strength. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lucille Lawler, as well as his brothers, James Patrick Lawler and Dr. William Lawler, DMD.
The Lawler family finds comfort in knowing that Raymond's remarkable legacy lives on through each of his children and grandchildren. In support of his deep love of education he has donated his body to SIU Medical School.
Raymond's influence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, and he will be remembered with love and gratitude for the impact he made on his family, his community, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 North Russell Street,
Marion, IL at 10:30 a.m.
