Raymond Lee "Sonny" Likens, age 91, a resident of Brooks, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2025. He was a man of deep faith, unwavering devotion, and quiet strength.
As the loving husband of the late Frances "Sue" Likens for 65 years, their life together was a shining example of love, partnership, and service to God. Sonny was known for his kind heart, steady presence, and lifelong commitment to his family and church. He lived with integrity, always putting others before himself and finding joy in life's simple, meaningful moments.
He was known to many as a skilled cabinet maker-a trade he practiced faithfully throughout his life. His craftsmanship was a reflection of his character: honest, meticulous, and built to last. Countless homes still bear the mark of his hands and his heart, and he took great pride in creating beautiful, lasting work for others. His talent, work ethic, and humility earned him the respect of all who knew him.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. His legacy of faith, humility, and love will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frances "Sue" Likens; parents, Willie and Mary "Lucy" Likens; and siblings Bonnie Jaggers, Lewis Likens, Hurley "Curley" Likens, Roger Likens, Latt Likens, Harrison Likens, Albert Likens, and Mary Ann Hardin; along with many other loved ones who went before him.
He is survived by his children: Mike Likens (Rebecca), Deborah Jackson (Martin), and Brian K. Likens (Annette); grandchildren: Chris Jackson (Nichole), Mikey Likens (Brooke), Josh Jackson (Whitney), Caleb Likens, Jazz Stringer (Sam), Megan Peyton (Bradley), Mariah Carrico (Brad), Tori Heimann (Josh), Noah, Jon, Brianna, Isaiah, Miguel, and Grace Likens; and great-grandchildren: Adaline, Alice, Porter, Griffin, Navy, Ian, Aaliyah, Luke, Sonny, Everett, and Sebastian. He is also survived by his siblings: Estelleen (McKinley) Crowe, J.J. (Rita) Likens, and Morris "Jockey" Likens.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highway at Brooks Road). The visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will also be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home. www.subfuneralhome.com
