Raymond Lavere Loehr, the eldest of Russell and Clela Loehr's six children, was born in his grandmother's farmhouse in Williams County, Ohio on April 7th, 1938. He went to be with the Lord while in his home in Gisela, Arizona on November 15, 2025.
In his young adulthood, Raymond served in the United States Army, serving a large portion of his military time with NATO special operations forces. His time in the service enabled him to travel around the world and form lifelong friendships. In particular, his time in Germany inspired his interest in genealogy. He began researching the history of the Loehr family and discovered some of his distant relatives had immigrated to America in the early 1800's.
After his time in the service, he returned to Arizona and eventually settled in Gisela. Raymond put his heart into his property, turning it into an oasis and haven for all who visited. Raymond loved hosting family and friends at his home and always hosted Thanksgiving dinner. He was loved by many friends and he loved his community, helping others whenever possible. He was committed to his church family and offered his sharp mind as the church treasurer for a time.
Raymond loved people and sharing his stories with anyone who would listen. He had many anecdotes and enjoyed a good joke. Raymond had a deep passion for animals and always had num nums for his beloved dogs and keybaes (kitty babies). He will be missed by all who knew him.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Clela Loehr and his sister Nancy Loehr. He is survived by his brother Dale Loehr, his sisters Maxine Barr, Doris Boteler, Janice Maley, and Ardeth Ayers, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, all of whom love him dearly.
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'" John 11:25.
