Raymond Charles Wallace Marano Jr., known affectionately to all as Ray, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the age of 65, in Pennsauken, NJ. Born on April 26, 1960, in Darby, PA, Ray was the beloved son of Raymond Sr. and Anne Elizabeth (Connor) Marano and the cherished brother of Annemarie Wallace.

Ray's early years in Darby were filled with the close-knit bonds of a tight community and a loving family. His spirited nature was evident even as a young boy, where his intelligence and friendliness shone through in his interactions with others. Ray attended local schools where he formed a natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life.

Ray chose a career that allowed him to be at the heart of the community he loved. As a cab driver, he was much more than a man behind the wheel; he was a confidant, a storyteller, and often a source of sound advice for his many passengers. Ray took great pride in his work, and his friendly demeanor made every journey more than just a ride-it became an experience to remember.

Beyond his work, Ray found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved music, dancing, and cooking, which he shared with family whenever he could. He also enjoyed gardening, a passion that became an important part of his life. While at Graterford Prison, Ray created personal gardens and was one of only 15 inmates-out of more than 3,200-chosen to begin a specialized course preparing inmates for careers in the greenhouse business. He was deeply proud of this accomplishment and the beauty he nurtured through his gardens.

Those who knew Ray will remember him as a man of great character. He was the embodiment of a friend-always there with a smile, ready to lend an ear or share a laugh. His intelligence was matched only by his warmth, and his presence could light up even the gloomiest of days.

Ray is survived by his sister, Annemarie and Mark Wallace, and their family. They find comfort in knowing that his legacy of kindness, humor, and humanity will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.

Ray will be laid to rest with his mother at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
