Raymond Ronald McPherson, 87, passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2025.

A native of Alamance County, he was the son of Finley Ralph McPherson and Flora Allen McPherson, both deceased.

Raymond graduated from Alexander Wilson High School in 1956 and began his masonry apprenticeship. He operated McPherson Masonry for many years and was well-known for his masonry skills. After retiring, he devoted his time to managing his cattle farms and attending livestock markets. His hobbies included watching old Western movies and attending auctions. He was of the Methodist faith.

Raymond will be remembered for his integrity, kindness, strong work ethic, and quiet generosity. "Thy modesty is a candle to thy merit" is the quotation found beneath his photograph in the 1956 Alexander Wilson yearbook.

Survivors include his wife, Chloe Dean McPherson; his nephews, Earl McPherson, Lynn McPherson, and Keith McPherson (Lois); his niece, Jeanette M. Brockington (John); and his nephews-in-law, Ryan M. Bowland (Heather) and Cameron D. Bowland. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Norman C. McPherson and Donald M. McPherson; and an infant sister, Linda McPherson.

Graveside services will be conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery located at 2719 Bellemont-Alamance Road, Burlington, NC 27215 by Rev. Nathan D. Hooks. A gathering of family and friends will follow in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to charities or churches of your choice.

A special thanks for the visits, calls, cards and health care that Raymond received during his illness.
