Raymond J. Montoya, 65 years old passed away peacefully at home, after a lengthy battle with cancer, on February 28, 2025. Ray was born on June 15, 1959 to parents, Joe Lewis and Virginia (Espinoza) Montoya. He is preceded in death by his father.
Raymond was a lifelong resident of Pueblo; he graduated from Pueblo County High and shortly after joined the U.S. Marines. He was a proud Marine and Veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. Ray loved his church and the community of St. Francis. He dedicated himself to his church for as long as his health allowed. He could be "heard" wherever he was, he was kind, giving and loving and enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his family and friends. He was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Ray is survived by his partner and wife, Vivian DeHerrera; stepson, Lawrence DeHerrera and his companion and pride "Champie", mother, Virginia Espinoza; brother, Darrell Montoya, niece, Desire Montoya; nephew, Toby Montoya; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews and special close cousins and friends, Dave Baca and Darryl Johnson, who all loved him dearly.
Funeral Mass, 10 am, Fri., March 14, 2025 at St. Francis Xavier Church.

I would like to convey my deepest sympathy to Ray's family. I had known Ray for 12 + years as a customer of JB Pharmacy. In those years we became good friends... Talking about everything from the Denver Broncos , Bessemer neighborhood too anything in between. He always made us laugh and uplift our spirits. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I'm sorry... I am out of state and won't be able to attend his services but I'll never forget him!! Until we meet again my friend!!!!
