Michael Ray Rodgers, 73, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He was born on Friday, July 11th, 1952, to the late Freeman Rodgers and Ola Mae Essex in Villa Ridge, Illinois. Michael's life was marked by dedicated service, love for his family, and a spirit that touched all who knew him.
Michael served his community for over 15 years as a police officer in Mounds, IL. He was a self-employed contractor, no matter what it was Michael could build it or fix it.
Beyond his professional life, Michael had a passion for fishing and a loyal dedication to the St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed watching football and spent countless joyful hours playing and coaching softball. However, nothing was more important to Michael than his family, and his love for them was boundless and unconditional.
Michael is survived by his four children and son-in-law, six cherished grandchildren, and nine brothers and sisters.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his dear spouse, Dixie Dunn Rodgers, as well as a grandson and seven siblings who all awaited his arrival with open arms.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 20th, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau, MO. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will conduct the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a church or charity of your choice, reflecting Michael's giving nature and the love he had for helping others.
