Raymond H. (Bubby) Sachs, age 88, died at his home in Halethorpe, MD on Saturday, October 18, 2025. His loving wife of 62 years, Joan F. Sachs, was at his side. Born in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late Howard A. and Hazel Sachs of Westport.
Ray worked for many years at Eastern Roper Corp as a machinist until the plant closed in 1985. He finished his career as a quality control technician for Hittman Medical Components in Columbia, MD. He often recalled that the "degreed engineers" would come to him for assistance when they had a technical problem. Ray retired in 2009.
A Ravens season ticket holder since their inception and Colts before that, he was an avid fan of Baltimore's sports teams. He joined family members at Ravens tailgate parties and at The Firehouse. He often spoke of his friendship with Al Kaline growing up in Westport and loved to talk about the "Good Ole Days" and attending the many "Westport reunions". His other interests included fishing and boating which occupied most summer weekends with family at the Sachs' shore house in Pasadena. He was also a thoroughbred horse racing fan. Ray was an active member of the Lansdowne Worship Center.
He was predeceased by his dear daughter Lisa Marie Sachs; brother Howard T Sachs and wife Jean; sister Florence Ford Sachs and nephew Tommy Thomas Sachs.
Surviving family includes dear daughters Cheryl Handley and Karen Brandt, brother Robert and wife Felicia Sachs, nephews David (Mae), Andrew (and family), Steven (Lynda & son) Sachs, niece Tair Swepston (Reggie), and several grandchildren.
