Raymond B. Sawyer, 96, of Crothersville, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.

Born on September 19, 1929, he was the son of Killis Sawyer Sr. and Lillie Mae (Boiling) Sawyer. On July 29, 1950, he married the love of his life, Eva Sawyer, who preceded him in death on September 8, 2021. Together they shared a lifetime filled with love, hard work, and devotion to family.

A lifelong farmer, Raymond dedicated his life to working the land. Farming was more than an occupation-it was his passion. He loved riding up and down the rows of crops, eager to see what yield they would produce. He proudly used International Tractors throughout his career and enjoyed tending garden with Eva by his side. For about 25 years, Raymond and Eva spent winters snow birding in Florida, creating cherished memories together.

Raymond also enjoyed fishing with his son Jerry, collecting ball peen hammers of every size, and maintaining an immaculate yard year after year. Known for his good spirits and love for his family, he was a man who always carried a positive outlook and left lasting impressions on those around him.

Survivors include his three children, Jerry (Brenda) Sawyer, Carolyn (Ronnie) King, Buddy (Lori) Sawyer; ten grandchildren, Larry (Tammy) Sawyer Jr., Sharla (Eric) Todd, Wendy (Monte) Defibaugh, Becky Sawyer, Angela Riley, Evan King, Lisa King, Blake (Julia) Sawyer, Brent (Madison) Sawyer, and Brandon Sawyer; several great and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings Jean Hopkins of Austin, IN, Ruby Gay of Scottsburg, IN, Tom (Donna) Sawyer of Walton, KY, and Ronnie (Josie) Sawyer of Crothersville, IN.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David Sawyer and Larry Sawyer; siblings Alvin Sawyer, Richard Sawyer, Killis Sawyer Jr, Jim Sawyer, Bobbie Sawyer, Linda Hurt, and Carolyn Sawyer; and daughters-in-law Dian Sawyer and Patricia Sawyer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Crothersville, IN, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on the same day, all at the funeral home.
