Raymond P. (Flip) Shafer, III, 60, of Meadville, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his residence.
He was born December 1, 1962 in Bellefonte, a son of Raymond P. Shafer, Jr. and Marcia Donnelly Shafer Zosack. He married Anita Haemer October 16, 2004.
Flip attended Elmira College. He worked as a facility engineer for Meadville Medical Center for 20 years and was a self-employed videographer, traveling the world.
Flip was a member of the Italian Civic Club, enjoyed shooting pool and cooking, was a musician, loved caring for animals which was his purpose in life, and was an avid birder.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Anita, include his mother, Marcia Zosack of Boston, MA; his father, Raymond P. Shafer, Jr. of Meadville; a brother, Matthew Shafer of Albuquerque, NM; an aunt, Diane Domnick (James) of Meadville; a nephew, Jacob Shafer; a cousin, Shona Strachan; three stepchildren, Gregory J., Paul C., and April L. Norrix; four step-grandchildren, Joseph, Elizabeth, Blake, and Gage; and several step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robin R. Zosack.
Per Flip's wishes, no services are scheduled.
Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, 11012 Kennedy Hill Rd., Meadville, PA 16335 or AHN Cancer Institute at St. Vincent, 2315 Myrtle St., Suite 290, Erie, PA 16502.
