Doris H. Hargenrater, 95, of Meadville, passed away peacefully Friday morning, August 15, 2025, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.
She was born in Meadville on July 27, 1930, a daughter of Russell Heald and Mary Elizabeth (Cotton) Heald Andrews. She was a 1948 graduate of Meadville High School and, in 1952, Doris married Herman A. Hargenrater II. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Anna Mae Boyd of Meadville, and her twin brother Donald Heald of Franklin, PA.
She was employed as a telephone operator at Bell Telephone Co. in Meadville and Altoona for 40 years, retiring in 1992.
She was an avid golfer at Oakland Beach Golf Course, Conneaut Lake and has golfed all over the world including Pebble Beach.
She is survived by her children: Patricia Libby (Robert) of Ithaca, NY, Herman Hargenrater III (Rebecca) of Conneaut Lake, Stephen Hargenrater (Sue) of Guys Mills, and Lois Latta (John) of Monroeville, PA ; seven grandchildren: Michael Hargenrater (Monika), Timothy Hargenrater, Laura Libby (Brian Plummer), Tyson Hargenrater, Stevie Hargenrater, Lucus Hargenrater, and Aubrae Latta; eleven great grandchildren, Dustin, Elana, Corbin, Brayden, Hannah, Teagan, Tyson Jr., Gauge, Beretta, Bennett, and Winston; one great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews including Linda Stright, Bill Boyd, Jeff Heald and Jan Miller.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to ROSE AND WAID FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 581 CHESTNUT ST, MEADVILLE.
Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wesbury Benevolent Care Fund, 31 Park Ave., Meadville, PA 16335 or Hospice of Crawford Country, 766 Liberty St., Meadville, PA 16335.
