Raymond Simms was a resident of New Iberia, LA. He transitioned at 10:13 A.M. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Belle Teche Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Iberia, LA.
Raymond was a devout Catholic who loved the Lord. He was a member of Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church where he served as an usher as well as being a Bingo Number Caller.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his nieces/caretakers: Theresa Zepherin, and Monica (Frederick) Rochon of Lafayette, LA, Elizabeth (Morrris) Crawford and Cynthia (Ken) Porter of New Orleans, LA, Donna (Charles) Hendricks and Annette Archangel of Houston, TX and Cathy Simms, Charles Simms, Martin (Linda) Simms of St. Louis, MO and Stephen (Marcia) Simms of Portland, OR, one sister-in-law: Iona Simms of New Orleans, LA; a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, church family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles Simms and Helen Neuis Simms; three sisters: Zenobia Zepherin, Sister Helen Simms, and Sister Maria Petra Simms; two brothers: Charles Simms, Jr. and James Simms; one sister-in-law: Ida Bell Simms; one nephew: Michael Simms; one niece: Helen S. Bland.
Active Pallbearers are Carl Cooper, Jr., Jamarr Zepherin, Frederick Rochon, Morris Crawford, Clayton King, and Norbert St. Julien.
Honorary Pallbearers are the Ushers of Saint Edward Roman Catholic Church.
