Raymond Snelson of Old Fort passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. He was born in Yancey County on November 13, 1948.
Raymond dedicated over thirty years of his career to the furniture business at Ethan Allen. Beyond his career, Raymond was a man of varied interests. He found joy in the simples pleasures of life, often spending his leisure times fishing, woodworking, and tending to his beloved garden. These hobbies were not just pastimes; they were avenues through which he expressed his creativity and love for nature.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Dana Snelson, with whom he was married to for 20 years. He was a stepfather to Tonya Radford, Fabian Bartlett, Shannon Bartlett, and Sonya Biddix; eleven step-grandchildren and ten step-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. His sister, Lois Snelson Waycaster and her husband Roger also mourn his passing.
Raymond is preceded in death by his two brothers, Roger Dean Snelson and Robert Daniel Snelson.
A memorial services will be held at a later date.
