Raymond Leroy Tuttle, 68, a previous resident of the Curtis/Germfask area, died February 16, 2025, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah after a two-year battle with cancer.
Raymond was the second child of Lawrence R. Tuttle and Yvonne Kae Tuttle (Seaman) born February 4, 1957 in Manistique, Michigan. Raymond was raised on the family farm near Curtis, Michigan. Raymond graduated from Newberry Highschool in 1975 and was really looking forward to his 50th reunion.
Raymond worked for his father at Lawrence Tuttle Logging in his youth and after high school. Raymond married Melody Grivet (Knoll) in 1976 and they later divorced. This marriage produced Raymond's four sons. Unlucky in love, Raymond would remarry and divorce two more times in his life. During his third and last marriage, Raymond inherited his stepdaughter, Chauntel Hatch.
In 1980 Raymond left the Upper Peninsula and moved to Wyoming. Raymond would spend the rest of his working life "out west" living in Wyoming and Utah. Raymond worked as a heavy equipment operator doing road construction and in a coal mine. Raymond then found his passion as a truck driver. Raymond started at May Trucking and then went to work for Cowan Trucking. Raymond found his permanent "trucking home" at Desert Star Transportation based out of Herriman, Utah. In the mid 2000's Raymond briefly left Desert Star and started his own trucking company, Lake Ridge Transportation. Even while running his own company, Raymond kept close with the folks at Desert Star and hauled loads for them. Raymond later decided that it was best to return to his "trucking home" where he stayed until his retirement in 2018.
After retirement, Raymond returned to the UP and bought his parents' home. Raymond lived there until 2023 when he was diagnosed with cancer. Raymond then moved to Iona, Idaho so that his son could assist him in his fight against cancer.
Survivors include his children Ernest Tuttle of Pocatello, Idaho, Tony Tuttle of Ririe, Idaho, Josh (Melissa) Tuttle of Iona, Idaho, Josiah Tuttle of Ontario, Oregon, and Chauntel (Matt) Hatch of Blaine Minnesota, his siblings, Deborah Hazen of Allegan, Karen Blank of Curtis, Ronda Nicholson of Curtis, Steven Tuttle of Germfask, along with eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and one great grandson.
