Raymond Lee Wactor, 70, of Nederland, passed away on July 17, 2024, in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born on May 3, 1954, in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
Raymond's passion for carpentry was evident throughout his life, and he took pride in his craft. Graduating from Port Neches - Groves High School in 1973, Raymond went on to establish himself as a skilled artisan in his community. His dedication and talent as a carpenter were among his proudest accomplishments, leaving behind a legacy of fine craftsmanship.
Beyond his work, Raymond enjoyed spending time on his minibikes, restoring vehicles, and tinkering with various projects in his garage. His hobbies reflected his love for hands-on activities and the joy he found in creating and fixing things with his own two hands.
In the hearts of those who knew him best, Raymond leaves cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katie Louise (Mercer) Wactor; father, Ray Wactor; and brother, Macky Wayne Wactor.
Raymond is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Jo Ellen Wactor of Nederland. He also leaves behind his son, David Ray Wactor; sisters, Mary Louise Wactor, Kathleen Marie Wactor, and Doris Ann Wellman; brothers, Bobby Ray Wactor, James Edward Wactor, Tommy Gene Wactor, and Morris Glen Wactor. Additionally, Raymond is survived by nieces and nephews, Steven Ray Rode, Issac David Barbosa, Jerry Ray Wactor, James Edward Wactor Jr., Sabrina Louise Rode LeMaire Claybar, Tiffany Marie Resh, Ashelie Janette Wactor; as well as a host of great nieces and great nephews and extended family members.
A visitation service to honor and remember Raymond's life will be held on Saturday, July 27th at Melancon Levingston in Groves. The gathering will take place at 5601 39th St., Groves from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Raymond Lee Wactor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy of craftsmanship and dedication lives on in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
