Raymond Norbert Wenda

Raymond Norbert Wenda, 91, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at Springfield Homes The Ranch. He was born on June 2, 1934, in Chicago, Illinois, to Joseph and Helen (nèe Rozeszowski) Wenda. He married Janice Petersen in October of 1956 in Grayslake, Illinois. They were together for 69 wonderful years. Raymond graduated from Grayslake High School. He then joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas as a combat engineer. After the military, he worked as an engineer for Allis Chalmer, which merged with Fiat Allis, for 30 years. He then worked for Bunn-O-Matic Corporation for 20 years. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and loved bird watching. Raymond is survived by his wife, Janice; his son, Mark (Kim) Wenda; his daughter, Wendy (Victor) Ruck; his grandchildren, Nate (Emilee) Wenda, Sam (Brittany) Wenda, Luke (Marybeth) Wenda, Kristy (Tim) Sanford and Adam (Emily) Ruck; his great grandchildren, Michael Sanford, Taylor Sanford, Jaxson Ruck, Andilyn Ruck and Hudson Wenda; his sister, Joann (Bill) Hitt; and his brother, Gerald Wenda. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation rites were accorded. No services will be held per Raymond's wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to The Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2900 N.
