Mr. Raymond Lee "Ray" Young, Jr., age 56, of Cave Spring, GA, went home to be with his Savior on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at a local hospital.

Ray was born in Floyd County, GA, on October 18, 1968, son of the late Raymond Lee Young, Sr., and the late Sara Dover Young. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lydeen Young Sutton. Ray was a graduate of Armuchee High School. For the past 16 years he has been employed with Georgia Machine Works where he faithfully worked as a machinist. Ray was of the Baptist faith.

Ray was a jack-of-all trades and loved to tinker. He was fascinated with the inner workings of machines and would take things apart just to learn how to put it back together. If Ray didn't know how something worked, he would find out and became the research expert of all things at his shop. He loved riding his motorcycles and his love never diminished despite numerous accidents. Ray had a tough exterior but was a big teddy bear at heart. He enjoyed photography and his sharp eye perfectly captured photos. Ray above all loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is now rejoicing in His presence for eternity.

9 However, as it is written:

"What no eye has seen,

what no ear has heard,

and what no human mind has conceived"___

the things God has prepared for those who love him-

1 Corinthians 2:9, NIV

Survivors include his loving wife, Christi Holland Young, Cave Spring; 3 fur babies, Tucker, Daisy and Pearl; mother-in-law, Debbie Smith (Steve); father-in-law, Steve Holland (Karen); 2 brothers-in-law, Matt Holland (Libby) and Stanley Sutton, Jr. (Melissa); a nephew and 2 nieces, Hayes Holland, Collins Chambers and Caroline Chambers; numerous friends whom he loved dearly.

In accordance with his wishes, Ray will be cremated and the family will hold a memorial visitation from 5pm until 7pm on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to either: P.A.W.S. of Rome/Floyd County, by clicking here, ARF (Animal Rescue Foundation of Rome/Floyd County), P.O. Box 682, Rome, GA 30162, or to Floyd Felines, by clicking here.
