Rea Dorathea Eilene Norgaard passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at her home in Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania. Born on August 10, 1946, in Suffern, New York, to Emma Tresp and Alfred Gag, Rea's life was a testament to her gentle spirit, her kindness, and her sense of adventure.
Rea's journey through life was filled with love and dedication, especially to her husband Allen Norgaard, Sr. Together, they created countless cherished memories. Rea's legacy is carried on by her beloved children: Janice Cheatwood and her husband Greg of Florida, Rea Noyes Sessa and her husband Tony of Highland Mills, Pat Patterson of Monroe and Belynda Barton of Sparrowbush. She was the proud grandmother to Jessica and Amanda Noyes, Stephen and Andrew Patterson, Hailee Cheatwood and Curt Hedberg. Her great-grandchildren, Isabella, Savannah, and Abigail, also brought immense joy to her life.
In Rea's professional life she was a civil servant, working for the Department of Social Services and retired from Crystal Run Healthcare. As a former member of the Bullville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, Worthy Matron in the Order of Eastern Star, and part of the Tri-States Naval Ship Ladies Auxiliary, Rea exemplified the spirit of service and community.
Beyond her professional and community service accomplishments, Rea was a woman of many interests and talents. She held a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, which was evident in her love for gardening. Her home was a sanctuary where plants and animals thrived, including her cherished cockatiel, Cash, who was a constant companion. Rea's zest for life shone brightly through her love of dance. She attended dance classes with enthusiasm and grace, continuing to do so right up until her final days.
Rea's gentle and kind nature made her a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew her. Her adventurous spirit inspired those around her to embrace life's journey with open hearts and minds. She was a beacon of light and warmth, leaving a lasting impression on her family, friends, and community.
As we bid farewell to Rea, we celebrate the extraordinary life she lived and the countless ways in which she touched our lives. We will remember her for her kindness, nurturing love, and the adventures she embraced with such passion. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the many lives she impacted.
Rea's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and the joy of living. She will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will forever be treasured. Rea's life will be celebrated with a visitation at St. John's Lutheran Church, 391 Mount Hope Road, Middletown, on Saturday, May 17th, from 10 am to 12 pm. The funeral service will commence at 12 pm, with the Rev. Paul Johnsen presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Pike County Humane Society in Shohola, PA.
