Reaber Virginia Brown Smith, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025 surrounded by love. Reaber was born on September 13, 1935 to Samuel Kirk Brown and Virgie Myrtle Milford Brown. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Kids always adored her because she would spoil them but she could also just spend time with them and teach them many things. Reaber enjoyed gardening (she had a green thumb) and could grow anything especially the most beautiful flowers, spending time with the great-grandchildren, and talking to friends on the phone. In her early years, she grew up on a farm, became a farming wife, raising two boys. She married Johnny Smith in June 1954 who predeceased her in death in 2014. She had worked at the Harwood Manufacturing Co. in Adamsville and for many years at Aqua Glass in Adamsville. She met many people but she never met a stranger and could just talk to anyone!
Reaber is survived by her sons, Tony (Connie) and Tim; grandchildren: Angie Reed (Travis), Tim Smith (Angie), and Amber Derr (Jordan); great-grandchildren: Ashley Lindsey (Blake), Parker Smith, Katelyn Reed (Noah Johnson), Katie Smith, Atlas Derr, Ares Derr, Logan Williams and Josh Williams; and many nieces and nephews she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Rachel Jones; her brothers, Waldo Brown, Calvin Brown, and Sam Kirk Brown, Jr. (Jim); daughter-in-law, Doris Smith; and grandsons, Reggie Williams and Shane Williams.
She also leaves behind some very special nurses and caregivers at Adamsville Healthcare where she has been for almost 6 years as well as Gentiva Hospice's nurses and Chaplain. We appreciate all of you so much and for the love you have shown Reaber.
Pallbearers: Tim Smith, Parker Smith, Travis Reed, Blake Lindsey, Larry Wayne Brown, Dustin Brown; Honorary Bearer will be Katelyn Reed standing in for Noah Johnson
