Reagan Lavell McDaniel quietly left this world and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was 77 years old.
Mr. McDaniel is preceded in death by his parents, Daisy and Ezekiel McDaniel, eleven siblings and his great grandson, Ryver Campbell. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandra K. McDaniel, his daughters Tammy Campbell and Tonya Goodale, sons-in-law Tim Campbell and Randy Goodale, six grandchildren (Dustin Campbell, Colton Campbell, Tucker Campbell, Connor Campbell, Chase Gill and MaKenzie Gill), three great grandchildren (Bentley, Sadie and Maibelle Campbell), his sister Connie Mezza, brother, Rawa McDaniel, special friends Calvin and Lou Jarmin, Steve and Gina Flickinger and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loving and devoted "Panamanian poodle", Perla, who was always by his side.
Mr. McDaniel was born in Walnut Hill and later moved to
Pensacola, Florida. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, serving in the United States Army in infantry as fire direction control. He led his men through many skirmishes, putting himself in harm's way on many occasions to save the men in his charge. For his service, he was awarded numerous medals and commendations including 3 purple hearts and the Bronze Star of Valor.
As a civilian, he served several terms as the president and business manager of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union 676.
Throughout Mr. McDaniels lifetime, he mentored countless men in his field as an electrical lineman for 60 years. He was an ordained deacon, and support missionary to the indigenous people of Panama for 8 years. He devoted his time to young people and anyone who needed help. He never met a stranger and often shared his testimony and love of Christ. In 1981, after years of hard living and turning away from the Lord, Mr. McDaniel accepted Christ as his Savior. Since that time, he never looked back. He was a willing servant, a deacon, and witness for Christ on countless occasions.
There are many, many facets to the man called Reagan (pronounced "Ree-gan"). He quit school at the young age of 16 years old to help provide for his mother, brothers and sisters. He later went back to school to obtain his diploma and built his career as an electrical lineman, persevering and fighting for Union rights for his fellow lineman. He was well respected in his field, and known for his wisdom, humor and daily pranks. Later, he went on to become president and finally business manager of the local union IBEW 676, locating jobs and fighting for the rights of electrical linemen. He never let anything or anyone get in his way in doing what was right, honest and just.
He was hard-headed, direct, a die-hard political advocate, and "almost never wrong". He was honest, fair, loyal to his beliefs and those he loved and was a man of integrity. He taught his children right from wrong, didn't back down and was quick to shake a hand or give a hug. For any problem or issue he faced, he did not falter. He simply stepped up. He was a true American Hero, a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather/great grandfather, and uncle.
Even during his fight with Alzheimers/Dementia and cancer, Mr. McDaniel remained driven to fight his battles. He never forgot a face, loved beyond measure, and finished the race. When he stepped through the gates of his eternal home, there is no doubt that his Savior greeted him with "Well done thou good and faithful servant."
