BASILE- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Rebecca “Becky” Bacon announces her passing on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Eunice Manor at the age of 76. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at the St. Augustine Catholic Church in Basile. Entombment will follow in the St. Augustine Mausoleum with Father Keenan Brown, Celebrant.
Rebecca, affectionately known as “Becky”, was born on June 13, 1948, to the late Fulton and Mary LaFleur Bacon. With a heart full of faith, Becky was a very devout and faithful member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where she cherished her spiritual community. For 39 years, Becky dedicated herself to the education and inspiration of her students, teaching at W.W. Stewart and Basile High. Her passion for teaching touched countless lives, and her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege to learn from her. Family was the heart of Becky's life. She held her family, siblings and nieces and nephews, close to her heart, but her pride shone brightest for her beloved son, Samuel. To those who knew and loved her, she was known as "Nanny Bec," extending her nurturing spirit far beyond her family and embracing many of her students as part of her extended family. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of others.
Becky will be missed by all, especially her son, Samuel Jude Bacon and wife, Kristen of Basile; her brother, James “Jimbo” Bacon and wife, Christine of Basile; her sister, Georgie Courville and husband, Steve of Basile; Nana’s four grandchildren, Brilee LaPoint, Wesley LaPoint, Riggins Bacon, and Sammie Bacon; as well as extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Alice Guillotte.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Basile on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 8:00 am until time of services. The Catholic Daughters will pray a rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday.
