Rebecca Bauerschmidt passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, after a period of declining health at Plainview Assisted Living Center, Richland, Ms. She was 79 years old.

Rebecca was born at Baptist Hospital in Jackson, MS. She grew up in Florence, MS, and graduated from Florence High School. Rebecca went on to graduate from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Both she and her husband worked for the Chrysler Corporation Space division. They lived in Iran for a time and experienced the exile of the Shah and release of the hostages. They both traveled extensively Europe exploring many countries such as Germany, Austria, India, Turkey and many more. Upon returning to the states, they resided in Webster, New York. After her husband passed, she moved back to Mississippi to be closer to family.

She is preceded in death by her husband John F. Bauerschmidt. Her parents Charles Dalton Hilton and Mary Elizabeth Howell Hilton and brother Lewis Perry Hilton. She is survived by a sister Carol Hilton Kennedy (William) and brother Lawrence Dalton Hilton (Terry). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

We would like to give special gratitude and thanks to the staff, nurses and caregivers at Plainview Assisted Living Facility and Hospice who helped care for Rebecca. We are forever grateful for the support and compassionate care Rebecca received.

The family will receive friends and extended family for visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Chancellor Funeral Home in Florence, MS. There will be a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Rexford Cemetery in Braxton, MS.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to "Loving Hands Good Ministry" with First Baptist Church of Florence.
