Rebecca "Becky" Howell, age 61, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday November 16, 2025, in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the interment to follow at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville, MS. The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Becky was born on May 2, 1964, in Isola, Mississippi to the late Jim A. Smith and Emma Lucille Lynchard. She was known for her creative spirit and a heart full of compassion.
Becky was not just a rock for her family; she was their anchor and guiding light. Her unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, which began on September 4, 2012, inspired those around her to cherish their own beliefs and live with love and kindness. Becky was dedicated to spreading joy and support within her community, exemplified through her creation of a blessing closet where she generously provided gift baskets to those in need.
An ardent lover of art and crafts, Becky spent her free time channeling her creativity into meaningful projects. She also had a passion for cooking and baking, often preparing delicious meals that brought her family together. Her home was a place of warmth and love, filled with the laughter of her nine cherished grandchildren: Hayden Thurlow, Kolton Sanders, Macie Thigpen, Carter Sanders, Malie Thigpen, Rebecca "Becca" Sanders, Willow Straps, Eric Sanders, and Ashton Sanders.
Surviving Becky are her devoted husband, Larry Howell of Braxton, MS; her loving daughter, Janie Thigpen (Jacob) of Florence, MS; two sons, Johnathan Sanders (Kayla) of Mineola, TX, Justin Sanders of Braxton, MS; her step-daughter, Nicole Howell of Middleton, TN; her brothers, Jimmie Smith of Crowder, MS and Jeffrey Woods of Pope, MS; and her sister, Paula Gale Ezell of Crowder, MS.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Jim A. Smith and Emma Lucille Lynchard, as well as her brother, Albert Dwayne Woods.
