Rebecca "Becky" Loye Murphy, 81, of Reidsville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. She is in the loving arms of her Savior.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home,1909 Richardson Dr., Reidsville, NC 27320, and other times at the residence. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Wilkerson Funeral Home, with burial following at Reidlawn Cemetery.
Becky was born in Rockingham County on October 31,1942. She was a staple in her community. Becky drove a school bus for many years and was the first woman to ever win the school bus rodeo. She loved helping people and organized many Vacation Bible Schools throughout the years. Mrs. Murphy worked many years as a hairdresser in the shop she owned, Becky's Beauty Shop. She was a member of Pilgrim Chapel Baptist Church. Becky loved playing the piano and served as the church pianist. She loved to sing and for many years was a part of the Grace Trio with her husband Larry and daughter LouAnn. Becky loved watching the Hallmark Channel, Blue Bloods, and the Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and her dog, Princess. Becky was the "baby whisperer" and could calm any fussy baby. She was everyone's "Granny". Mrs. Murphy was a Christian lady and served the Lord all her life. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Ruby Loye and sister, Pam Mock.
Becky is survived by her beloved husband, Lawrence "Larry" Murphy; sons, Eddie Murphy (Susan) and David Murphy (Lori); daughter, LouAnn Short (Jeff); sister, Gaye Mabe; grandchildren, Tyler Murphy (Mariye), Jeffrey "Jeff" Short (Angelina), Nikki Short Bearden (Dylan), and Sammy and Shelby Murphy; great-grandchildren, Haley Powers, Kaleb Short, Charli and Blake Bearden; and her beloved dog, Princess.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Ancora Compassionate Care staff and every person who came to the home with a smile on their face. Your kindness, tender care, and patience is unmatched. To the nursing team; Carol Walker Vanderwerf, Brittany Lamb, Caroline Conner, Leandra McGuire, and Kathy Johnson; her church family and neighbor, Julia Bailey, who never failed to provide hot meals, we could never thank you enough.
Memorial contributions may be made in Becky's memory to Ancora Compassionate Care.
