Becky, 72, was a force to be reckoned with - strong in spirit, sharp in wit, and an unwavering confidence. She was the only girl among three brothers, so she learned early how to hold her own and carried that strength with her throughout her life. She never met a stranger; with the gift of gab and welcoming nature, she could strike up a conversation with anyone.
Becky was born and raised in
Oakdale, LA, but spent the majority of her life in the Pineville area, later settling in Glenmora, closer to "home" in the country where she longed to be.
Becky had various jobs after her two children began school, but most of her career was spent serving at the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program. Her uplifting personality and compassion made her a mentor to many, leaving a lasting impact not only on her colleagues, but many at-risk youth whose lives she touched.
Known for her impeccable attention to detail, Becky always kept a clean home and deeply cared about her appearance to which she carried herself with style and dignity. She enjoyed cheering loudly for LSU and had a natural green thumb, tending to her plants with the same devotion she showed the people she loved.
Later on in her life through all the many health challenges she faced, she still had a great sense of humor, a contagious laughter, was a faithful friend, and an encourager. She was affectionately known for remembering her family and friend's birthdays by sending cards; a small gesture that reflected her enormous heart.
Her greatest joy in her life was her family: her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her world and the pride of her life.
As she leaves this world behind, she is now reunited with her son, Ty Cobb. A reunion she longed for and now embraces in peace. She was also greeted by her parents, Leonard and Thelma McGee Byrd; and brother, Russell Byrd. What a glorious day!
Those left to miss her: loyal companion, Charles Price; devoted daughter, Kelly Cobb Franklin (Chad); brothers, Richard Byrd (Reba) and Roland Byrd; NayNay's grandchildren, Cheyenne Haney (Mason), Kloe Wright (Chris), Zayne Cobb, Cory Cobb, and Cooper Franklin; great-grandchildren, Sasha Haney, Shepard Haney, Caspen Wright, and Scarlett Haney; her granddog, Jax; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were very special to her.
Her legacy lives on in the strength and laughter she shared, and the love she gave so effortlessly. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will remain forever with those who were blessed to know her. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love left behind.
Pallbearers honored to serve are: Zayne Cobb, Cooper Franklin, Cory Cobb, Christopher Wright, Quinton Grundy, and Mike Wehrle.
