REBECCA JO HELMREICH
73, of Houston, TX, formerly of Kingston, died Monday, October 10, 2022 in Covenant Medical Center Cooper Campus, Saginaw. She was born June 30, 1949 in Caro to Clayton R. and Opal Elaine (Durkee) Hunter. She married Loren Helmreich on April 28, 1973 in Faith Lutheran Church, Bay City. He died January 1, 2013.

Becky attended East Dayton Country School and graduated from Kingston High School with the class of 1967. She attended Central Michigan University for one year and graduated from Hurley Nursing School of Flint in 1969. Becky worked in various area hospitals, including Caro Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital in Saginaw. Together, she and Loren relocated to Houston, Texas where she continued with her education and her career. Over time, Becky earned her PhD and taught for Houston Baptist University and the University of Texas, retiring in 2021. She wrote several papers that were published in medical journals and traveled to Italy, Japan, and Singapore to give presentations on them. Although work was always Becky’s true passion, in her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching, and collecting jewelry.

Becky is survived by her children: Aubray (Matthew) Lyman of Houston, TX; Andrew (fiancé, Jessica Herbrich) Helmreich of Houston, TX; two grandchildren: Lake, Loren; sister, Karen Roberson of Mayville; nieces and nephews: Diana Roberson, Lisa (Sam) Mosher, Shawn (Mathew Itoney) Roberson, Bobbi (Michael) Westerby, Todd (Lacey) Roberson; many great nieces and great nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Loren; brother-in-law, Robert Roberson.

Funeral service held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022 in Kranz Funeral Home, Kingston with Sam Leppert, Funeral Celebrant officiating. Interment will be in East Dayton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to ALS of Michigan. Family and friends may share memories and photos at www.kranzfuneralhome.com.
